neighbourhood First Policy successful or not?

India lies in the southern part of the Asian continent, surrounded by the Himalayas in the north and the Indian ocean in the south, the Bay of Bengal in the east, and the Arabian Sea in the west. India's neighboring countries are Afghanistan,  Pakistan, China, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka.

When Mr. Narendra Modi became our prime minister in 2014, he launched the neighborhood first policy. According to this policy, the Indian government will focus on improving the ties with its immediate neighbors in comparison to strategic partners. India can invest in its neighboring countries, to build stronger trade and political ties.

But, over the last years, due to Pakistan-funded terrorism and separatism, the government has decided to turn a cold shoulder towards Pakistan. And due to widespread coronavirus from China also weakens the ties of the two countries. Srilanka has been seen to be more inclined to China in the recent past. On the other hand, India has been making efforts to restore the old friendship of the two countries. The current government of Nepal led by PM K P Sharma Oli came to power in 2018 through its anti-India campaign. Nepal is also inclined towards China lately. The problem of illegal migrants is still unresolved with Bangladesh.

The former government of the Maldives signed a Free Trade Agreement with China, but the present government has expressed its disapproval for the FTA and proposed to cancel it. After Doklam, Bhutan restated its pro-India stance. India is involved in many projects of Myanmar such as the Kaladan project, Asian Trilateral Highway, etc. India's relations with Afghanistan have always been friendly

Should india care about its neighbours?
What's you views on that?

Comments

  1. India should care about its neighbors, to gain respect at international level.
There should be peace talks between india and neighboring countries and the last but not the least without neighboring countries we can't export and import .
And without export nd import we can't think of development and without development we can't eredacte poverty

  2. Actually India shouldn't care about pakistan-china-nepal or bangladesh as they don't show their bond but I think deep insidee they all are connected with each other and consider India as their enemy. Inspite of this - India should help bhutan-maldives-myanmar as they're small countries who really need to become developing one.

Arguments in favor  1. By not providing them the right to vote, we are violating their right to equality. 2. An illiterate voter can distinguish between genuine promises and false promises.  3. Som

Until now 15 people have lost their lives and 100+ are missing and very heavy destruction have happened to two hydropower plants. This is not the first time, this has reminded us of the disaster of 2013 and it's not the last event. In the coming time, this kind of disaster will be more frequent due to climate change.
