Kargil Vijay Diwas

26 July, the day which symbolises the bravery of India and its Soldiers. This was the day when operation Vijay was officially declared successful. The war lasted for over 60 days in the Kargil region of Ladakh.

Pakistan army betrayed the bilateral understanding of both the Nations that the post would remain unattended during the winter season and took the command of Indian high posts. Pakistani army denied their involvement in the war and stated that this was the action of the independent Kashmiri Rebel forces. But everyone knows the truth.

Just few months back February 1999, both the countries signed the Lahore declaration, promising to provide a peaceful and bilateral solution to the Kashmir conflict.

The total area seized by the infiltrators is generally accepted between 130 to 200 sq km.

The Government of India took instant action and mobilized 200,000 troops and again gain the control of high posts which belong to Indian territory. This plan of action is known as operation Vijay.

527 brave soldiers of Indian armed forces lost their lives during the war.

We celebrate this day every year in the memory of these brave soldiers.

We know that voting is a very big responsibility in a democracy. After a lot of debates and arguments, the decision was taken and voting right was also given to illiterate citizens.
